Description: The University of Notre Dame is an independent, national Catholic university founded by the Congregation of the Holy Cross. The university is organized into four undergraduate colleges: Arts and Letters, Business Administration, Science and Engineering. Additionally, there is the School of Architecture, the Law School and the Graduate School, five major research institutes, several centers and special programs, and the University library system. Each year, there are five applicants for each freshman class position. All incoming students are enrolled in the First Year of Studies, a program that allows students to sample a wide variety of courses without the pressure of committing to a major.
