School Profile / Mission: Canterbury School, founded in 1915, is a lay Catholic co-educational boarding and day school. As a college preparatory school, Canterburys goal is the intellectual and spiritual growth of each student. With the primary emphasis on academics, Canterbury believes that the student should develop an enjoyment of books and learning, and a balance of sensitivity and reason that should be life-long. There are numerous activities, which enrich student life. All students participate in the athletic program. Additional activities include: drama, chorus, social service, debate and environmental clubs; peer ministry and student government; and publications, including the newspaper and yearbook. Movies, dances, and off-campus activities supplement Canterburys weekend activities. Of the 105 members of Canterburys 2000 graduating class, 100 percent were accepted by colleges. They are attending U.S. colleges and universities, including, Bentley, Brown, Carnegie-Mellon, Duke, European School of Economics, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Washington and Lee, Sacred Heart, Tulane, and the United States Military Academy.
